Creating, joining, and playing in hunts simple and super fun
Getting Started
After you download the Scavenger Hunt with Friends app, the first thing you will need to do is create a username and a password.
Once you have created your username, you will be taken to the home screen of the app where you will be able to join existing scavenger hunts and create your own scavenger hunts. Each user can be involved in multiple hunts simultaneously which will be listed here on the home screen.
Creating a Hunt
From the home screen of the app you can choose to either Join an Existing Hunt or Create New Hunt. To create a new hunt for you and your friends simply click the Create New Hunt button and follow the steps. You will first be prompted to choose a name for your hunt as well as select a duration and a list of items for the hunt. Hunts are defaulted to a duration of 3 days and a list of 20 random items selected from our extensive database of fun and quirky items. Of course lits can be custom created by you.
Once the details of your hunt have been selected the final step is adding players to your hunt. Players can be added either by username or by looking through your contacts list in your phone or mobile device. When you are ready to start your hunt simply click the "Start Game" button and your hunt will begin immediately.
Playing in a Hunt
Now that you have either joined and existing hunt or created a new hunt you are ready to have fun scavenging for the items on your list. Each scavenger hunt features a list of items for each player to find, a countdown of the time remaining in the hunt, and a leaderboard that tracks each player's current score.
To complete an item on the list simply tap the item and you will be prompted to upload a photo of the item being completed. You will have the option of selecting a photo either from your mobile device's photo library or by taking a new photo right on the spot. Once you have successfully uploaded the photo that item will be removed from your list of items to complete and the associated points for that item will be added to the leaderboard for your username.
Throughout the hunt players are able to see every other player's photos of the items they have completed. Clicking on an item in the "Recently Completed" section of the hunt will display a full size image of the corresponding photo. Players have the ability to comment on each other's photos and flag photos that they feel do not accurately represent the item it corresponds to. Flagging is a community effort and once an item is flagged players will also have the option of "unflagging" the item. If an item is flagged the pointes associated with that item are deducted from that player's score.
